The forecast is looking good this weekend, and there's no better place to spend an ANZAC long weekend than right here at Waihī Beach. Whether you're here to pause and reflect, get outside and explore, or simply slow down and soak it all in, we hope you find exactly what you need here.
Before you head out this weekend, please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the updated tsunami evacuation maps for Waihī Beach, Athenree, and Bowentown. Knowing what to do and where to go in an emergency is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your whānau, especially if you're visiting the area for the first time. ANZAC Dawn Service:
This Saturday, we come together at Waihī Beach RSA to remember, reflect, and honour those who have served.
The Dawn Parade begins at 6.00am on Saturday 25 April, followed by breakfast in Gunners View.
If you've never attended a dawn service before, this is your invitation. It's a quiet, moving experience, one that brings the community together in a way that's hard to put into words. You don't need to know exactly what to do or what to expect; simply being there is enough.
Arrive a few minutes early, wrap up warm, and take a moment for yourself, for those who served, and for those we remember.

Later that evening, head back to the RSA for live music with Mark Huckstep from 7.00pm. A great way to round out the day.

The Secret Garden:
The Secret Garden is pulling out all the stops this weekend, with up to 25% off specials across the board and a cracking line-up of live music.
Tonight — Pop-Up Italian Trattoria from 4.00pm
Friday — Jake Rattler (Fireball Night) | House, funk, electronica | Free entry | 6.00pm–9.00pm
Saturday — 2 Fiddy (DJ set with live percussion), PK & DJ Dougie | Free entry | from 6.00pm
Sunday — Sunday Jams | 4.00pm–8.00pm
A note for regulars: The Secret Garden will be closing for a short seasonal break from Monday 27 April for four weeks of essential maintenance and a well-earned rest for the team. They'll be back and refreshed on Thursday 28th May. Keep an eye on their socials in the meantime.

Get Outside: Orokawa Bay
With the sun on our side this weekend, it'd be a shame not to make the most of it. If you're looking for a reason to lace up your shoes, the walk to Orokawa Bay is always worth it.
Just a heads-up, the track has been a bit muddy lately, so wear sturdy footwear. Once you get there though, you'll be glad you did. Watch our latest Reel to learn more here!

T.I.D.E — Tonight!
If you're free this evening, don't miss our latest T.I.D.E business networking event.
Tonight we're joining SMYD & Gather Creative at their offices at 19b Wilson Road, from 5.30pm–7.30pm for an evening of business insights, marketing updates, and connection. T.I.D.E events are always a popular one, so expect a great night meeting other locals in business and building connections. With nibbles by Kezza and drinks on their deck to finish.

It's been a tough few months for Waihī Beach, with the weather taking its toll on the area. This weekend, we'd love to encourage you to show your support where you can. Stop in for a coffee, pick up a little something for yourself or someone you love, have a wander, and get to know the people who live and work here.
Every purchase makes a difference, and there's no shortage of wonderful local businesses to explore.
A quick note on Beach Road Deli: This ANZAC weekend marks the last weekend with their bar and food truck for winter, so get in while you can! From next week, they'll be open Monday to Sunday, 7.00am–3.00pm, serving coffees and deli goods.

Good to Know
Te Ara Mātauranga – Waihī Beach Library and Service Centre will be closed Saturday and Monday for ANZAC Day (and as always, closed Sunday). They'll reopen on Tuesday.

Surf Lifeguard Patrol Reminder
Our volunteer surf lifeguards are not on patrol this long weekend (and will not be back on patrol until Labour Weekend). Please take extra care if you're heading in for a swim or surf, and always look out for one another.
If you see someone in trouble in the water, call 111 immediately and ask for Police, who will activate the search and rescue team.
